About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

I’m going on 15-dayJapan & China cruise, part of route after Sasebo Japan are Beijing + Shainghaii.

Do I need to get a visa to China? Part of Norwegian Cruise route is Sasebo, Japan-at Sea-Beijing-Beijing-at Sea-Shanghai-Shanghai-at Sea-Hongkong (end port). Can I apply at Beijing to get 144-hr exemption and will it cover Shanghai? Please advise.

You must get a tourist (L) visa. You are not covered by any kind of transit without visa.
