What's the best way to get to Pingyao from Xi'an?

How long is the journey and would a day trip from Xi'an be a good idea?

You can take a bullet train from Xian North Railway Station to Pingyao Ancient Town. The train schedules are from 06:32 to 18:50. It takes around 3 hours on the way. The ticket fare of 1st Class Seat is CNY240 and 2nd Class Seat is CNY150. In addition, you are suggested to spend a night in Pingyao Ancient Town and come back to Xian in next day.
