About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hour free Visa?

Hi, we land in Hong Kong on 26th Sept at 7pm. We will leave for Guilin on 27th at 245pm (direct flight from HK) and return on the 30th Sept at 445pm (direct flight back to Hong Kong). Do I need to get a tourist visa? Thanks!

Yes, you need a tourist (L) visa because your itinerary cannot be considered as a transit since you are returning directly to your point of origin without traveling to a third country.

Since you need a visa, I would advise you to use a direct high speed train from Hong Kong to Guilin and back to save a money. This train takes just 3 hours 20 minutes and the price is less than a half of that for the plane.
