About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hour stay

Traveling from Orlando florida to Beijing to Sydney Australia. So I’m able to stay in Beijing to sightsee for up to 72 hours before traveling to Australia? Then on the way back to Orlando I’m able to stop in Beijing again for the 72 hour period if we choose?

You are right. You are eligible for 144 (72 hours were replaced by more generous 144 hours a couple of years ago) hours visa free transit in Beijing twice.

The only detail that upsets me is the fact that in reality, there is not flight from Orlando to Beijing, so you will have to have at least one additional flight change on your route to Beijing. I suppose that you will have a connection in US or Canada and if I'm right, this is fine. In any case, you have to take care that your flights to and from Beijing don't have any additional landings within mainland China!
