About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Asked by Karen in Scotland.

Hi, I have just applied for a tourist visa to China although I'm not sure if I will require this now? we fly to Xian via Beijing on 02/10 for a 5 day tour then to Tianjin for a 12 day Cruise that does not include any China ports, we fly back from Singapore to London via Beijing. I would like to know if the visa is a requirement before I attend the consulate for my appointment, Thanks

Yes, you need a Chinese tourist (L) visa without any doubt. The main reason is your travel to two different transit zones (Beijing and Xi'an). It is only possible if the entire travel is less than 24 hours and you is much, much longer. So, visa is a must.
