FROM BALI WE HAVE A 13HR LAYOVER IN PVG SHANGHAI BACK TO LAX. DO WE NEED A VISA?

No visa needed. If the stop in Shanghai is not overnight with a hotel reservation, its a possibility immigration may require you to spend the transit time inside the airport. You can apply for the separate entry permit with the blue form at the 24/144 hour transit desk but it's not guaranteed.
