Holiday visa for China

My family & I are planning a holiday to visit our brother, who is resident in Beijing, next March/April 2020. Does our group need to have all their flights booked before we can apply for Visas, and also could we apply for a Group Visa? Thank you.

Well, as your brother can write you all an invitation letter, you don't have to book all flights before getting visas. Group visa is issued to those joining tour groups organized by travel agencies, so you can't apply for it. But one of you can submit the applications of all of you to the consulate if you live in the same consular area.
