About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit in Beijing Airport?

I am a Malaysian carrying Malaysian passport.

Travelling United airlines from DC to Beijing and transit less than 24 hours to Singapore via Singapore airlines. These are 2 separate air tickets. I need to collect my luggage and rechecking in for my Singapore flight. Can I apply for 24-hour TWOV?

You are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit in Beijing, so no visa needed. Since you are flying on two separate tickets, you will apply for 24 hour free entry permit upon your landing and it will be granted to you because you will have to collect your luggage and perform new check-in. In case that you have a long layover, you can make a visit to Beijing or wait at the airport, but in case of short layover, you are advised not to leave the airport, but to perform your formalities as soon as possible because Beijing could be quite time consuming airport.
