Do you need to book an appointment or can you just turn up? Does the person who is requesting the visa need to attend or can someone in the same party bring the documents?

If applying at the Chinese Visa Application Center in UK, you need to book an appointment on the website of the visa center before going there. If your fingerprint information has not been collected by the center, you will have to go there in person. If yes, you can ask someone to submit the application for you.
