About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Are the airlines familiar with the 144 hour transit free visa stay

Based on the discussion above, it appears that my itinerary (MSP-DFW-PEK-Cruise ship in Tianjin) is valid for the 144 hour free visa. My concern is getting to the airport in MSP or DFW and the airline (AA) not be familiar with the free visa and deny Boarding. Is the 144 hour free visa a well know option by the airlines.

There is no "free visa" and you risk confusing your check-in agent if you use those words. Always refer to "144 hours transit without visa". The agent obviously should know, but if they check on Timatic make sure they put China as the transit point, and wherever your first cruise port is as the destination. If they put China as the destination then it will come up with "visa required". If they put China as the transit then they will see the transit without visa rules. But honestly, tens of thousands of people use this every year, it's nothing special, and they should know about it.

Thanks, by coincidence I had to go the airport yesterday and since I had some time I stopped by and asked the agent. As you indicated, I realize I asked the wrong question. I said I was going to China and asked if they were aware of the 144 hours transit free visa. The agent was very nice, she checked the system and told (and showed) me that I would need a visa. She said that if I were checking in at that time I would not get my boarding pass, because I did not have a visa and they have to follow what was written Turns out that I did not say that my final destination was Singapore and although I mentioned transit, it was certainly not clear from her search. I will check again.
