About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

London - Beijing - Pyong Yang

I will be arriving in Beijing with an overnight hotel booking and an onward flight booking to Pyong Yang (dprk) within 72 hours. I am told by the tour operator that I will collect my dprk visa from their office in Beijing city centre. Will this make me I ineligible for Visa Free Transit?

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing. Anyway, since you will really collect your visa for DPRK in Beijing after you exit the airport, you have to ask from your tour operator to send you all the necessary documents, including the relevant confirmations regarding your onward flight to Pyongyang and also all the necessary documents that will guarantee that the DPRK visa will be issued to you at the tour operator office in Beijing. Practically all the tour operators that organize DPRK tours are very well informed about all this details, so you should just urged them to send to you everything necessary that will guarantee that you will be allowed to enjoy 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing.

Keep in mind that you have to print out all the necessary documents and have them in hard copy with you, ready to be shown to the relevant authorities in London and in Beijing. One more detail... I assume that you will return from DPRK again in China, almost certainly in Beijing, so be informed that only the itinerary where you will fly from Pyongyang to Beijing is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit and the train trip that is also a popular method of coming back from DPRK requires a Chinese visa obtained in advance.
