About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit travel in and near Beijing

I will be going from Copenhagen(Denmark) to Beijing(PEK) (via Finland) arriving on October 4th. We have booked a hotel in Beijing for 3 nights. We will then leave on a cruise ship from Tianjin on October 7th. The cruise will take us directly to Japan. But will have a 1-night stopover in Hong Kong (Oct 13/14) on the way to Singapore(Final destination). during our time in Beijing, we would like to visit the great wall and the forbidden city. As far as I can see that should be possible on the 144 hours visa?

You are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in principle, but your itinerary has to fulfill the following conditions:

- You flight Copenhagen - Helsinki - Beijing, should not have any additional landing within mainland China
- Your cruise should not have its first port call, immediately after Tianjin (Beijing) a port in mainland China

If the above conditions are met, you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing and you are allowed to explore quite wide area around Beijing including the Great Wall.

You stop in Hong Kong is irrelevant for visa free transit purposes, i.e. it is definitely fine.
