About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

We are two Canadians arriving to Beijing from UK/Canada

And then onwards to Cambodia via Hong Kong. Does this mean we are only eligible for a 72hr exemption (because of HK layover)?
