Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. Anyway, to be allowed to exit the airport and to have a decent rest in the hotel, you will have to apply for 24 hour free entry permit upon your landing in Beijing. Having an accommodation booking as is your case significantly increases your chances to be allowed to exit the airport, but you have to know that the issuing of entry permit is always upon discretion of immigration authorities. In reality, the only way that will bring you out of the airport is a Chinese transit (G) visa obtained in advance, but I really don't see a reason for so much hassle in obtaining a transit visa, just for 12 hours. OK, now when you know your circumstances, it's up to you to decide.
