About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Direct Flight from Hk to Shanghai 24/10/19 then leave on cruise ship 26/10

Hi I will be flying from Aust (Aust citizen and passport holder) 23/10 to HK then overnight in HK flying direct to Shanghai on the 24/10.I will leave from Shanghai on 26/10 on cruise ship that sails to Sth Korea then in to Tianjin 30/10 and leave on 1/11 for 3 days then to Japan no more China entry after Tianjin on the cruise. Can I use the 144 hr visa free entry to Shanghai and Tianjin. Or do I need a 144 hr free for Shanghai and a single entry for Tianjin (dual entry actually as I will go to Shenzen on 10/11)

Thanks for the info. To be clear here is the itinerary
1. Direct flight HK to Shanghai on the 24/10
2. Cruise Shanghai to sth Korea 26/10
3. Cruise Sth Korea to Tianjin 30/10 leave Tianjin on 1/11
4. Cruise to Sth Korea
5. Cruise to Japan and remain for a week until fly to HK and transit to Shenzen for 8 days then Guilin for 3 days (fast train)
6. Fly Guilin to HK and leave for Australia next day
So please confirm can use 144hr entry for Shanghai and then need a China dual entry visa

Of your three entries HK > Shanghai > Korea is the only part that does not need a visa. You need dual entry. Please also make sure you mention in your first entry that you want to do transit without Visa or they may collect one of the entries.

Part one:

Basically, this is your entire itinerary:

Hong Kong - Shanghai - South Korea
South Korea - Tianjin (Beijing) - Japan

Having in mind your dates, this itinerary would allow you 144 hour visa free transit in both Shanghai and Beijing (Tianjin). Anyway, since I miss several important details, I will write here the conditions your itinerary has to fulfill for you to be really and undoubtedly qualified for 144 hour visa free in Shanghai and Beijing (Tianjin):

1. Your flight from Hong Kong to Shanghai should not have any additional landings in mainland China and in South Korea
2. Your cruise from Shanghai to South Korea should not have as the first port call, immediately after Shanghai, a port in mainland China
3. Your cruise from South Korea to Beijing (Tianjin) should not have as the last port call, immediately before Beijing (Tianjin), a port in mainland China
4. Your cruise from Beijing (Tianjin) to Japan should not have as the first port call, immediately after Tianjin (Beijing), a port in mainland China and in South Korea (Jeju island included).

Like this, you can review your entire itinerary and see whether your itinerary meets the above mentioned conditions. In the case of any kind of misunderstanding, feel free to come here again.
