About:Top 10 Mistakes to Avoid in Completing a Chinese Visa Application Form

Website glitch? Dates are messed up.

I fill in my work history and it gives me an error message: "The end date must be before the start date."

I tried swapping the dates...no good. I tried changing the dates to be before today's date, as if my current contract had ended. No good. Same message. I tried putting the end date before the start date. No good...and wouldn't that look strange to the consulate staff?

Hope someone can help!

Have you spotted that when you put in your start and end dates for employment, that you have to reverse the way you write the date eg. in England we would put today's date as 15-07-2019, but for the China application it would need to be 2019-07-15. I have been to Canada but can't remember how you write your dates, so this is just a thought.

Thanks Janet, but that's not it. The format was quite clear because each field said the data set I should input (month, day) and had drop-down menus. Not possible to mix up day and month in this case. Still wondering! It seems to assume that I don't have a job at home, as of my trip to China. Tough to figure out!

ALMOST the same problem: applying online in the UK, if I put the end date of my current employment as today or any day in the past, it accepts it. But if I put tomorrow's date or any future date, I get the error message you got. Paul

So what was the final verdict on this? I have a current job. I figure its important to show I am not due to travel to China unemployed, but I am unable to include any future date for the ‘end date’ of my current, ongoing position. This is so frustrating! What did you guys end up doing?

No verdict yet. I have put the date of my application as my "end" date and will find out in the consulate meeting if it's the right thing to do.

Yea I ended up having to do that. Will take a copy of my current work contract to prove I’m not planning to travel to China unemployed…..

Hope your application goes well!

Hmm I've just left the end date box empty as I'll still be employed. I hope this doesn't get my application rejected as incomplete!
