About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

We are flying LAX > SHA that has a 2hr 20 min layover in Guangzhou.

We are flying LAX > SHA that has a 2hr 20 min layover in Guangzhou.
Then flying out of PVG > MEL (Australia) via CKG.
Dates of travel 29 Sep - 5 Oct.

Can we get the 144 hr transit visa? I tried calling the embassy over and over and they will not answer and when I emailed I got a non descriptive general answer. I even called our airlines and they couldn’t assist. We are very confused.

It is always a complete waste of everyone’s time to call the embassy or the airline about this. Neither will tell you anything (it’s not the embassy’s responsibility, and all airlines will say it’s your responsibility to have the correct documents; they won’t take on the risk of advising you).
