About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 Transit Visa in Bejing but problems with hotel

We are flying to Bejing and finding a good hotel close to the main attractions is already quite difficult because of higher hotel prices and "Chinese citizens only hotels". Finally we found an international hostel but now they don't want or can't take us because of our 144 transit visa? How is that possible? We want to stay for 4 nights and they tell us they are not able to let us stay with transit visa.

Yes, I heard of such situation recently, but I forgot the hotel name. Maybe you should just look for another international hotel receives foreign guests enjoying the 144h visa-free stay.

Actually the hotel wrote back to us and they confirmed our booking (really happy about that) BUT we have to go to the police together with the hostel owner within the first 24 hours after we entered Bejing. A usual hotel does the paperwork for the police without letting their guest know. But with a hostel it is different...
