About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 hour stay after a cruise .

Our ship arrives at 0400 am at Shanghai , can I stay overnight to see the area then fly back to USA the following day ?

Yes you can as long as your flight out of China doesn't travel through the port you arrived in Shanghai from. If over 24 hours from arrival, make sure flight doesn't go through another Chinese city either.
