Travelling Overseas for 7 weeks before China Entry

Hello,
We leave Australia on the 4th September 2019, travelling through Europe and will eventually arrive in Shanghai (to sightsee) on the 23rd October, 2019, about 7 weeks later. We will leave Shanghai on the 27th October for Sydney. I need to apply for a Chinese tourist visa before we leave Australia as it will be difficult to do so while travelling. I am concerned that the visa will expire before we get to China. I would greatly appreciate your advice on what I should do.

Narris, if you will only sightsee in the area including Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu, you may check whether you can use the 144 hours visa-free transit in Shanghai. If yes, you don't even need to apply for a visa.
