About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Start time of 24 hour Visa

I am landing in Guangzhou at 11:15pm Monday from the US. I am departing the next night at 1:15am Wednesday. If I will be back in the airport by 9pm Tuesday night. Will the 24 hour Visa work or do I need the 72 hour.

It's not the time that you're in the airport that counts. It's the scheduled arrival and departure times. You won't qualify for 24 hours transit without visa (which is not a visa).

Well if your flight out of China is not nonstop to the USA then you're fine for the 144h twov.
