About:Shanghai 15-day Visa-free Policy for Cruise Tour Groups

We are arriving in Shanghai on a cruise the port of call before Shanghai is South Korea.

After a few hours in port we will leave Shanghai and sail to South Korea again. This is back to back cruises on the same ship. Can we use a 24 hour visa?

You will need to apply for a tourist (L) visa in advance. For the 24 hour visa free transit, you cannot go immediately back through the country you entered China from. You have to continue directly to a third country before cruising back through Korea. Since you will only be in port for a few hours and don't have enough to join an approved group tour in Shanghai you wont be able to do the 15 day cruise exemption either.
