David, your itinerary South Korea - Shenzhen - Hong Kong, if you stay at least 25 hours in Shenzhen, allows you to be eligible for 144 hours visa free transit in the entire province of Guangdong.

So, the first part is resolved and you will arrive by plane to Shenzhen from South Korea. Here you have to keep in mind that you are not allowed to have any additional landing within mainland China!

OK, to be completely eligible, you will book online, in advance, your ferry ticket from Shenzhen Shekou port to Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Transport Company. CKS is operating the ferries, in reality catamarans, between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. When you book your ferry ticket you will receive e-confirmation with all the data that are necessary for your travel and for your successful application for 144 hours visa free transit in Guangdong province.

This ferry is actually the only available option to travel between Shenzhen to Hong Kong that could be bookable online and to be eligible for 144 hours visa free transit. Keep in mind that you will have to travel on that ferry that you will book your ticket for. Also, you will print out e-confirmation before your departure from South Korea and have it in your hand at check-in.

Basically, this is not complicated at all.

David, their services are not cancelled. Far from that. The text that you have presented is just an announcement from the beginning of the last year where they have just cancelled one or two departures and not the entire route! Please, when you open their website, just choose from the drop-down menu "Shenzhen Shekou" and as destination "Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal". You will realize that they have at least 8 daily departures at the price of 140 HKD.

I have noticed that you were also looking for the route Shenzhen Shekou to "Skypier at Hong Kong International Airport". This route is also in function and they have about 14 daily departures. Anyway, you should know that this route is only available for those with the intention of flying from Hong Kong airport within few hours, i.e. this route is not available for those who just want to reach Hong Kong with the intention to stay in the city! By the way, you wouldn't be even allowed to board this ferry without a flight ticket.

To conclude... Visit their website again and look exactly for departure from Shenzhen Shekou port and with arrival in two mentioned destinations according to your plans, of course. I would really appreciate your short feedback to know that you have managed to obtain your e-confirmation for the ferry.
