144 hour visa (order of travel)

If we want to travel from the US to Japan, and then spend 3 Days in Beijing before travelling back to US (all tickets booked in advance, as one itinerary), can we do that without a Visa?Or do we need to go to Beijing before going to Japan?Thank You

So, your itinerary would be US - Japan - Beijing - US. Having in mind your last question, the alternative would be US - Beijing - Japan - US.Basically, both of the mentioned itineraries are definitely eligible for 144 hours visa free transit in Beijing area, of course if all the possible stops are reported! It will be just your personal choice whether you will choose one over another itinerary.
