Carla, you are perfectly allowed to do that. You will be covered by 24 hours visa free transit and your best option is to take a direct, Airport Shuttle Bus Line No.1 that connects Pudong to Hongqiao airports. It takes the highway, so its time of travel is more or less always within 5 minutes. It roughly takes 80 minutes for that journey. Anyway, I will honestly tell you that I'm quite afraid because of your only 4 hours that you have at disposal for your transfer between the two airports. It's possible to accomplish, but only if the arriving flight is perfectly on time and you are skilful enough to accomplish all the formalities in time. By the way, I've never heard about any flight, especially flown by Eastern, from Hongqiao to anywhere in India? Are you sure about this detail?

Carla, you will definitely have to collect your luggage upon your arrival at Pudong airport at T2 terminal. Now, this is what you will have to do:

- You have to be very fast and approach the counter with 24 hours visa free transit sign thata is located before immigration. There you will apply for 24 hours free entry permit, so have in hand your tickets for Kunming and from Kunming to India in hard copy. You will get a sticker in your passport where it will be written that you have right to stay in China until tomorrow at 8:35 AM and after that run for your luggage and exit the airport to catch Shuttle Bus Line 1 that goes directly to Hongqiao airport. The price is 30 CNY and you will exit the bus at the station called Hongqiao Airport T2!!! Please, remember this. I suggest you to have some Chinese money even before your arrival in Shanghai, so that you don't waste your time for money exchanging at Pudong airport.
- After you exit the bus, run to your check-in because you have just a short time to accomplish all the mentioned.
- After this you will have a flight that arrives in Kunming at 3:40 PM
- Now I assume that you will depart for Kolkata at 11:40 PM

Basically, your biggest challenge will be to manage to obtain promptly your entry permit that will be granted, but please, ask the people waiting there to give you the priority because of your flight from Hongqiao airport. Also, you will have to collect your luggage and you will be told so during your check-in in Cebu because it is only you that will have to transfer it between the two airports.

You will do it, but have confidence and just run and ask for priority :).

You need your passport, your flight tickets in hard copy and that's it :). I will repeat my suggestions from my previous post... You have to be very agile upon landing in Shanghai and, please, obtain some Chinese money before your departure from the Philippines because you will need it for bus ticket and also for some simple snacks, bottled water, etc... Anyway, why losing your precious time upon landing when you can obtain that small amount in the Philippines.

Carla, as I have previously told you, your entire available time is very short, but you can successfully accomplish your transit between the two airports within 4 hours. It is very important that you simply forget all those reports telling about 3 hours long queues for 24 hour free entry permit because that is not something that really happens there. It is true though that Pudong airport is time consuming and that you will have to be very fast in accomplishing all the formalities. Usually, the queues for 24 free entry permit are rarely more than 1 hour long.

Trust me, there are no some particular suggestions that will secure you to accomplish all the formalities faster than usual beside the general advice to be among the first to exit the plane, the first of all the passengers from your plane at the 24 hours free entry permit counter, to grab immediately a form and fill it out fast, but accurately and have your tickets in hard copy, ready to present them to the relevant authorities.

After that you should literally run to perform other formalities like customs and similar and after that run to catch the bus for Hongqiao airport. This is Shuttle Bus Line 1. Again, have at hand some Chinese money with you and always ask for direction. You will pay on board the bus.

Please, just don't bother with wifi because you will not have enough time to accomplish the process of connecting with such a short time.

By the way, you should definitely inform me that you have succeeded with your transfer in Shanghai :)
