About:Xiamen Travel

cruise to Xiamen (1day in port) and Shanghai (2day's in port)

We are coming to China with a cruise ship, "Westerdam" by Holland America Line.
Our first stop is in the city on Dec 9 2019 and the next stop is Shanghai for two day's Dec 11 and 12 2019.
Do we need a visa?

Yes, you are not eligible for 144-hour visa-free transit. You need to apply for China visa in your country in advance.

Thank you, but I read something about Transit visa. It is just for one day in Xiamen and in Shanghai you can go without a visa. We are from The Netherlands, so maybe there is a difference......

Hi, if you only stay either in Xiamen or Shanghai, then you can use the 144-hour free visa transit. However, you stay in both of the two cities, you have to apply for a visa in advance.

Hi Mandy, thank you for the replay. So, when we just go to Shanghai we don’t need a visa. Then we have to stay on board in Xi-amen i think.......
It is quite expensive to bay a visa for just one day, about 300€ for the both of us.
