Personal use prescription medicine in carryon or checked luggage?

I will be bringing several prescription medicines on a 12 day tour for my personal use. I will bring the doctors prescription with me. I believe I go through the green line at customs. Do my medicines need to be in my carryon bag or can I pack it into my checked luggage?

As I know, you can put them in your checked luggage.
