About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa free stay in Beijing

Hi, I am going to fly from Phuket to Beijing and then have a 20-hour stopover in Beijing before flying on to home, Estonia. Should I apply for a 72 hour visa free entry or am I entitled to a 24 hour entry and can visit Beijing during my stopover? Am I also permitted to take a tour and visit the Great Wall of China during those 20 hours?

I am asking just in case if I need to book accommodation. I shall arrive in Beijing at 6am and my flight on to Tallinn is already at about 2 am. Is it also ok if I do not book accommodation at all?

If you do not book the accommodation, you may not be allowed to go out of the airport.

Your 20-hour stopover qualifies you for 24 hours visa free transit in Beijing. Upon arrival in Beijing you will apply for 24 hours free entry permit showing your flight tickets and accommodation booking in hard copy. Having in mind the length of your stopover, you will be allowed to exit the airport and after that you are allowed to explore the area around Beijing including the Great Wall.
