About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Zupan 01/06/19 (Les Seatree)

Many thanks for your reply.
Sorry I have misled you.
We stay in Shanghai for 3 nights or 60hours before boarding the cruise ship. Still returning to Shanghai after cruise with flight return to Australia same day - no Hotel stopover.
Can we still rely on 72 hour visa for arrival and 24 hour for return after cruise to airport.
Do we have to apply for applicable visa prior to departure from Australia. Will airline request any evidence at check in?

As Zupan told you, you need to check your exact stops:
- Your flights to and from Shanghai should not have any additional landing within mainland China or Japan.
- Your cruise should not have any port calls in mainland China immediately after and immediately before your departure and arrival from and to Shanghai.
Of course the airline will check if you meet China entry requirements at check-in. Please refer to “144 hours transit without visa” because it is NOT a visa.
