About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Going: Brussels - shanghai - sydney - shangai - brussels

Hi!

From Brussels I want to visit friends in Australia and afterwards travel in China. Buying single fare flight tickets is more expensive then buying all round tickets.
So I bought an all round trip from Brussels to shanghai AND one allround from Shanghai tot Sydney.

I'll be arriving at shanghai airport Sept 21 and leaving the same day by plane to sydney.
Oct 14 I'll arrive back in shanghai (with a flight from Sydney) and stay for 23 days. Nov 7 I'll fly back to Brussels.

Do I have to buy a double entry visa for China
OR can I ask for a free transit visa for Sept 21. And ask for a regular 30days tourist visa for my trip comming from Syndey Oct14 and leaving to Brussels Nov 7. (That means entering and leaving the country with two different all-round tickets)?

Thank you!

It is definitely enough to have a singe entry visa for China because during your first transit through Shanghai you will be covered by 24 hours visa free transit. Please, just have in mind to tell to Chinese immigration during your first arrival in Shanghai, that you just continue to Sydney and that you don't intend to activate your visa, i.e. that you will activate it during your second arrival. The type of tickets is irrelevant for your entire journey. In reality, everything is very simple, at least in your case.
