About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Arrive at Beijing Airport and Depart at Shanghai Airport

Hello,

Just wanted to confirm that I can arrive at Beijing Airport and depart at Shanghai Airport (72hr visa free) ?
It is just this sentence "Passengers are required to leave from the same airport that they arrive" worries me. Beijing and Shanghai are both 144hr visa free.

You cannot arrive at Beijing and depart from Shanghai without a visa.

Both Beijing and Shanghai are 144hr visa free. I am planning to take domestic flight from Beijing to Shanghai then depart overseas from Shanghai. So my itineraries would be like
Arrive in Beijing and be in Beijing for less than 24hr
Fly from Beijing to Shanghai
Be in Shanghai for less than 24hr
Depart from Shanghai

Simply speaking, you are not allowed to do that. You can choose to stay in one transit zone and enjoy 144 hours visa free transit or travel from country A to China where you can indeed travel to both Beijing and Shanghai and after that depart to country C, but your scheduled departure from Shanghai has to be less than 24 hours from your scheduled arrival in Beijing.
