About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Visa Free Entry + Deluxe Cars on Transsiberian

1. We are US passport holders and we plan to arrive in Shanghai by plane, travel by train to Beijing and leave from there by Trans Mongolian Express. Does 144 Visa Free allow this?

2. If not, can we fly into BJ directly, but leave by train for Mongolia?

3. If yes, how can we obtain deluxe class tickets for our planned trip in June 2020?

Unfortunately, both of your options are not eligible for 144 hours visa free transit because the trains bound for Mongolia & Russia do not depart from BJ West railway station that is eligible as the starting/ending point for TWOV, but from BJ railway station that is not eligible. You will definitely need Chinese visa in advance.
