About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 HOUR VISA IN SHANGHAI

I want to find out about connection in Shanghai. I FROM ISRAEL.

I fly to Hong Kong via Shanghai. In Shanghai I have a 12-hour stop (from 5:30-17:00) terminal 2 .

At this time I want to go for a walk in the city SHANGHAI.

Do I need a visa to leave or if it is up to 12 hours I get a TWOV visa at an airport and i can leave?

I understand that up to 24 hours I can get aTWOV visa in place and to leave. is it true ?

I would appreciate the explanation.

Your itienerary is definitely eligible for 24 hours visa free transit, so you will transit through China visa free. As far as your exit from the airport concerned, you will apply for 24 hours free entry permit upon your arrival at Shanghai airport to be allowed to explore the city before your next flight to Hong Kong. You have to know that the issuing of permit is always under discretion of border authorities, but in your case where you have 12 hours of layover, I would say that your chances are very good.
