I would be in China for 5days, leaving on the 5th day. Would I be able to obtain it at the Shanghai airport?

Well, if you take a transit route, you can enjoy the 144hrs visa-free transit in Shanghai.

In case that you intend to fly from Indonesia to Shanghai, you will have to fly out from Shanghai to a third country, of course... You cannot return directly to Indonesia, but I suppose you already know that. By the way, you are supposed to have one blank page in your passport.
