About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi, I’m a US citizen but I’m currently in Indonesia.

I’ve been in Indonesia for about a week so far but had plans to travel to Shanghai. My passport currently doesn’t have enough pages for an actual Chinese visa so I wanted to obtain a 144hr visa. I would be in China for 5days, leaving on the 5th day. Would I be able to obtain it at the Shanghai airport?

In case that you intend to fly from Indonesia to Shanghai, you will have to fly out from Shanghai to a third country, of course... You cannot return directly to Indonesia, but I suppose you already know that. By the way, you are supposed to have one blank page in your passport.
