Of course you do not need a visa. Anyway, you should have in mind that it is necessary to take a conventional and not a high speed train from Hong Kong to Beijing or Shanghai. These trains depart from Hung Hom Railway station in Hong Kong and they terminate in Beijing West or in Shanghai Railway stations. Upon arrival, you will apply for 144 hours visa free transit in Beijing or Shanghai. You will need your onward flight ticket for some third country or as you say for some EU country. Also, you will be required to show a confirmation of accommodation booking. Remember to have both of the mentioned documents in hard copy. After that and after you have filled out relevant forms, you will get a stamp in your passport and you will be able to explore Beijing or Shanghai during the next 6 days. Visa free.
