About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Guangzhou "Nansha" visit for 12 hours via cruise ship?

We are arriving on a cruise ship and have less than a 12 hour stay. US citizens, does this 144 hour visa-free transit type visa apply to cruise ships or only arrival via airplane? Thanks!

Well, you are definitely not eligible for 144 hours visa free transit because to be eligible for this type of visa free transit you are supposed to arrive in Guangzhou or any other part of Guangdong province by air. As far as 24 hours visa free transit is concerned, here we also have a problem because Nansha is part of Guanzhou city and the rules for 24 hours TWOV for Guangzhou say that this convenience can be obtained just at Guangzhou Baiyun airport. In reality, it is quite possible that such a rule was relaxed, especially with this wave of introduction of 144 hours visa free transit for entire Guangdong province, but I really cannot find any reliable place to confirm possible change in policy regarding 24 hours TWOV that would be perfect for your case. I just hope someone more informed than myself will have some additional information in this regard.
