About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Chinese free transit Visa

Hi,

I have a flight from Hanoi to Shanghai, but it transits in Guangzhou. Can I get a free 72-hour transit Visa if I have the flight to Pyongyang from Shanghai?

No. Two stops in China limits you to 24 hours transit unless you have a visa.

Hi. Thanks for your answer. If my total transit time is less than 24 hours, is it okey to get a transit Visa?

My flight from Hanoi to Shanghai (transiting in Guangzhou) is (08:15-11:00 and 13:00-15:25) on May 19, and flight Shanghai to Pyongyang is early on May 20 at (0030-0350). This transit is less than 24 hours.

When your transit time is under 24h, then you don't need a visa.

Hi,

So I dont need a Visa for Chinese, even I land in Guangzhou before Shanghai, where I fly out to Pyongyang? Many are telling me that I am not eligible for a free transit visa just because I land in 2 stops (Guangzhou and Shanghai).

Your confirmation on this is really appreciated.

You really do not need any kind of visa regardless of the fact that you will have 2 stops within mainland China in case that your stay in China is less than 24 hours. Your itinerary is perfect example of 24 hours visa free transit with 2 stops. Please, just do not listen to those who are providing unreliable information because you are totally and undeniably within all the rules that could be applied to a foreigner transiting through China. Of course, you have to see whether you are also eligible for China 24 hours visa free transit for your flight back.
