Expired residence visa

i have an expired residence visa but a valid work permit

Am i allowed to enter with my work permit to renew the visa or do i have to reapply a new residence visa?

is there a dateline i have to get this done by?

Jakob, if you are now outside of China and you do not have a valid China visa, you have to apply for a new visa.
