About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa problems

I am travelling to Shanghai from the UK and staying for 6 days under the 144 transit visa. I then plan to fly to Beijing for a day and then back to the UK. Would this be allowed?

That is not allowed. You need a visa or different flights.
