Is Layover ok for this transit free Visa?

Is From Melbourne fly to Beijing for 4 days (with layover 2 hours in Taipei), then fly to Taipei for 2 weeks then back to Melbourne (All in one same ticket) ok? Also, with airline tickets, do we just need the onward tickets with pre-selected seat or needing the actual boarding pass with seat number showing? Thank you in advance.
