About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Flight in and train out

Hello, can I fly into guangzhou from Singapore and train out to Hong Kong and qualify for 72 hour visa? If not, what would you recommend?

No. The only way is to fly CAN-HKG nonstop.

Well that was quick. Guangdong province has just announced their 144-hour transit program which covers trips to HK through any land border. Your trip will be compliant if you can convince the check-in agent that you will be going to HK by land (e.g., by showing a train booking confirmation).

Is a receipt for train tickets enough if they don’t actually deliver the tickets online?

Yes it is. You should print out your receipt and have it in hard copy, ready to show to relevant authorities. Please, have in mind to book a train departing from Guangzhou East station to Hong Kong Hung Hom station on so called Guangzhou to Kowloon train line because it appears that high speed trains are not eligible for cross border transport in case of 144 hours visa free transit.
