About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

AKL - KIL (2 hours transit only - not leaving airport) - PVG (3 days) - KUL - BKI

Hi

Would the above travel itinerary qualify for the transit visa in Shanghai, Auckland to Kuala Lumpur staying only the time to transfer flights then on to Shanghai before heading back to Kuala Lumpur and off to Borneo. This is on a NZL passport.

Definitely not. This is a visit to China and not a transit since you will arrive from Kuala Lumpur to China and return to the same airport regardless of the fact that you will use Kuala Lumpur airport just for a short transfer. In case that you have already bought your tickets, you should apply for Chinese tourist visa.
