About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travel to rome

We will be on a plane China eastern for Rome with a 2 hour stop over in shanghai ( Manila- shanghai- rome) I was informed that a transit visa is required , with a 2 hour stopover for a connecting flight will there be enough time for us to get to the next flight

No, transit visa is not required in your case because this itinerary is perfectly eligible for 24 hours TWOV. Anyway, the time between the flights is very tight and if the tickets are not yet purchased, I advise to change your travel itinerary. In case that the flights are already purchased, just remember that you are covered by TWOV, so this will increase your chances to catch your connecting flight. In case that the tickets are already bought and that we are talking about the through ticket, then everything will be much easier because the majority of responsibility will be on the side of China Eastern.
