About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa required for flight to Beijing and then cruise ship?

We (USA Passports) are flying into Beijing Oct 4th in the afternoon and then leaving that airport Oct 7th on a shuttle to Tianjin which departs the port at 5pm ( roughly 75 hours). The cruise is a Royal Caribbean ship and does go to Hong Kong several days later for a overnight stay. After that there will be no more stops in China. Is a Visa required? Thank-you

No, you do not need a visa. In case that you are arriving in Beijing from a third country and in your case it cannot be Hong Kong because your next port call after Beijing is Hong Kong, then you are perfectly eligible for 144 hours free travel. Do not bother yourself with the fact that you will be arriving to Beijing and leaving mainland China from Tianjin because this is perfectly within the legal frames of 144 hours free travel. So, keep in mind, you should apply for 144 and not 72 hours free travel.
