About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Can I be under the 144 hs Visa exempt benefit if I do MEXICO-JAPAN-CHINA-MEXICO thru Japan?

In this case, I am returning to Japan (so A = C) but just as a connection because my final destination is Mexico. Thanks

You will need a visa as connection airport is what they look at not final. This is considered Japan > China > Japan even if you don't leave the airport in Japan.
