If the matters are already solved with Immigration, then technically you can still travel, but will most likely to face close scrutiny at border control (especially if the overstay occurred less than 10 years ago). They will want to know that you are a genuine visitor and won't be working in HK or overstaying your status, so you should bring proof of employment/proof of funds, hotel reservation, return ticket, etc. You should also be prepared to plead your case to the officer in charge.
If you have NOT solved your case with Immigration (which is unlikely given that HK Immigration patrols the border quite well) then obviously you should not travel, or you may face arrest at the border.
