About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Must I apply for an airport transit visa?

I am a US citizen and will be traveling through China from Hanoi, Vietnam to Illinois, United States. I have two layovers in China and was wondering whether or not I need an airport transit visa.

I leave Hanoi and arrive at Shenzhen at 6:10am. I must collect my luggage and wait for my next flight to Chongquin at 14:20. From Chongquin I collect my luggage and wait to go Los Angeles at 22:00.

I know Chongquin qualifies for the 24 hour twov but I am unsure if I will need a visa in Shenzhen. I appreciate your help.

You don't need a transit visa, you're fine for the 24h transit and it doesn't require any visa.
