Application process from student visa to work visa

Hi,

My spouse is on a student x, and had an offer for work (Shanghai).
What is the procedure to gro from a student visa to a work z ?
Can the person stay in Shanghai for the whole process, or has to leave China to finalize the work z process?

Please try to convert current student X type to a work Z type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can be done, you don't need to leave China. You should prepare the relevant documents including your passport and its copy, the application form, a passport-style photo, valid registration form of temporary residence, work permit from the employer as well as the others. Then, submit the application to the local PSB.
