Chinese citizen to hong kong

My husband has China passport. Now he is the United States. So he will flight from US to Hong Kong, then Hong Kong to China. He would like to visit Hong Kong for less than 7 days. Does he need to apply a Hong Kong visa to just stay over in Hong Kong for less than 7 days? Thank you!

I don't think he needs a visa for less than 7 days transit in HK.
