About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

USA-->Thailand-->Guangzhou-->USA

US Citizen flying. Does this qualify for the transit visa? The countries listed above, are they for the passport country of the visitor or do they mean that you have to transit from those countries? Thailand isn't on the list above but I don't know if that disqualifies. Thanks for the help.

Their writing isn't exactly top notch but "...allows air passengers from 53 countries to transit and stay for up to 72 hours..." should be pretty clear. There are no restrictions on which country you are arriving from or departing to either.
